In northern Uganda there has been a conflict for two decades between the rebel group the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and the Uganda government. The LRA has created an antagonistic force fueled by abducted children. Youth are abducted to be used as soldiers, laborers, for domestic purposes, and for sexual means. Every evening thousands of children flock to safe areas from surrounding villages, camps, homes, schools and the street avoiding abduction. They are called "Night Commuters." Many of the children seeking security, are also seeking fellowship with others. The safe zones provide a secure place to lay their heads, as well as friendships, activity and empathy. Although some reports claim the Night Commuter problem to be waning it is still very real. Until there are no more ambushes and rebel attacks the insecurity of youth will continue.
