The enormous Catholic cathedral in Loa. Loa is directly in the heart of this rebel conflict and takes on periodical attacks from the Lord's Resistance Army. The war in the region began in 1986 between the LRA and the Ugandan People's Defense Forces (UPDF). The LRA has reigned terror and carnage on Northern Uganda and Southern Sudan ever since. The ongoing war has significantly damaged the region and has left an ongoing burden on the local population. Loa, Magwi County, Sudan, Africa. December 2005 © Stephen Blake Farrington
