Africa, Uganda, Gulu District, Uganda/Sudan Border, Nimule/Gulu Road South, Northern Uganda/Southern Sudan - The road between Gulu and Nimule, and the most direct way between Uganda and Sudan. This road is notorious for rebel ambushes. The war in Northern Uganda began in 1986 between the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and the Ugandan People's Defense Forces (UPDF). The ongoing war has significantly damaged the region and has left an ongoing burden on the local population. July 2004 © Stephen Blake Farrington
