Africa, Sudan, Magwi County, Nimule, Caught In Between, Northern Uganda/Southern Sudan - Young boy shot in the arm during an ambush by the Lord's Resistance Army in Southern Sudan. His father and mother were also shot dead during the attack. The war in Northern Uganda began in 1986 between the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and the Ugandan People's Defense Forces (UPDF). The LRA has reigned terror and carnage on Northern Uganda and Southern Sudan ever since. The rebels commonly abduct children to fuel their personnel needs and quickly turn them into soldiers, porters and sexual slaves. The ongoing war has significantly damaged the region and has left an ongoing burden on the local population. December 2005 © Stephen Blake Farrington
