An overview of Pabbo Internally Displaced PeopleÕs (IDP) camp. Pabbo is the largest IDP in Uganda, holding an estimated 63,000 people. The IDP camps of Northern Uganda formed when areas in the region became unsafe for civilians to live. Clean water, sanitation, food, employment, education, moral living, and human rights have almost been entirely depleted. Furthermore, congestion within the camps has contributed to major health and living problems. With 1.6 Ð 2 million people displaced and with an almost total lack of resources to care for them, the local peopleÕs very existence physically, emotionally and culturally is at stake. The war between the LordÕs Resistance Army and the Ugandan military has been transpiring since 1986. Thousands have been killed and abducted. Pabbo, Gulu District, Uganda, Africa.
